The Tennessee State Assembly, Order of the Golden Circle, was organized August 2, 1964, during the Tennessee Council of Deliberation in the city of Nashville, Tennessee at Tennessee State University. Illustrious John G. Lewis, Jr., Sovereign Grand Commander, A.A.S.R., S.J. and Illustrious R.T. Butler, Deputy for the Orient of the State of Tennessee were also present to help organize the Tennessee State Assembly. The Loyal Ladies, met in the Student Union Building of Tennessee State University, at 9:00 a.m. It was decided that the State Assembly would become one to promote the welfare of less fortunate people. Projects mentioned were housing and daycare facilities. On that day officers were elected to represent the newly formed state assembly.
